Kyo X OC ~ Two Weeks

A girl with short, deep maroon, hair and light green eyes walked down the school hallway. It was her first day so she was kind of wandering around aimlessly. She was supposed to be at class, but the problem was that she didn't know where that was. Her name was Shouko Kinoshta and she had moved from a small town about an hour away. She went to live there because her parents had died and heard apartments were cheap. But, for the time being, she lived in the woods. A boy stepped in the hallway and saw her wandering around, so he went to help her.

"Excuse me, do you need help?" He asked, reaching out to tap her shoulder. She quickly turned and tripped on her own feet, falling on top of him.

"Oh my goodness I'm so, so, sorry!" She quickly said with her eyes shut tight. When she got no response, she opened one slowly, seeing a small mouse poke its head out of what seemed to be the boys’ shirt. "Whoa, that’s awesome and super adorable!" She picked up the pile of clothes and the rat, running quick running to the nearest bathroom. Shouko gently set him down on the floor and sat next to him. "I read this in a book once." She laughed to herself. "This one boy turned into a lion whenever a girl touched him the whole story is about him falling in love. It was actually really sad... "

"It sounds interesting." He said. She giggled at how his ears moved a little when he talked

"It was."

There was a sort of popping noise and a large puff of smoke clouded her vision. She turned her head slightly, seeing as it was highly unlikely for him to change back in his clothes. Turns out she was right. Accidentally catching a quick glance at his bare upper body, she shut her eyes and blushed a little. No, she didn't like the kid but she couldn't deny he was fairly attra- no screw it, he's hot. She could hear him getting dressed and waited for him to say when she could open her eyes.

"I didn't catch your name." he said sitting across from her. She peeked out one eye and them opened them both fully seeing her was clothed. "Mine is Yuki Sohma." He smiled a little at her. Shouko smiled back. For the first time, someone was nice to her on her first day

"Shouko Kinoshta." She said smiling back, "Hm... Sohma... I've heard that name before, maybe as I was walking in the hall this morning."

"Yes several of my cousins go to school here so it's highly likely." Shouko thought again, but pushed the thought aside, "I haven't seen you around, are you new?"

"Yes, today's my first day. That's why I was wandering around, I got a little lost." She blushed slightly. Yuki stood up and held a hand out

"I could show you around if you want." She smiled and took it, letting him pull her up. They walked out of the bathroom and Shouko handed him her schedule.

"You damned rat!" Someone yelled from behind them. Yuki didn't even look up, but Shouko turned around and say a boy with orange hair and red eyes stomping over to them. "Did I just see you walk out if the bathroom with the new chick?!" Shouko cleared her throat

"Um, hi." She said with a sarcastic smile, "That 'new chick' has a name." He looked at her, scanning her slightly

"You her?" He asked simply

"Shouko Kinoshta." She said rolling her eyes, then turning back to Yuki, "He wouldn't happen to be one of your cousins would he?"

"Mhm, he’s one." He said, handing her paper back to her, "You have lots of classes with me Miss Kinoshta so Ill show you around today." They smiled at each other, earning a groan and an eye roll from Kyo. "Oh, this is my cousin Kyo; he has kind of a temper."

"No really?" They laughed and waved goodbye to Kyo before walking off, "Later on you're telling me what exactly happened." She whispered

Shouko was sitting in the living room of the Sohma’s house, with two of her classmates Yuki and Tohru.  She found them both to be really nice and was happy she’d met them.  Though when Yuki explained the whole Zodiac curse thing to her, she was a bit shocked at first but she realized that she’d read weirder books so she liked those kinds of things.  And then she explained why she was in town (basically telling them about her parents death).  Yuki had run upstairs to get something and Tohru began cooking, leaving Shouko in the living room alone.  Thinking about her parents caused a few tears to stream down her face.  And that’s when the angry redheaded boy came back.

“YOU GODDAMNED RAT I SWEAR- oh it’s you.” Shouko avoided looking at him and began wiping the tears away.  “You ok?”

“I’m fine.” She said, her voice cracking slightly, but he shook it off.  “So you live with Yuki?” an awkward attempt in having a normal conversation

“Yeah, damned rat…” Shouko turned to him, not really aware that her eyes were still a little red.  All of a sudden something clicked in her brain.  Yuki was the rat, and it was obvious who Kyo was by his hatred of his cousin.  As a child, her mother told her the story of the Japanese Zodiac every night, and sometimes when she was sad, a new part she made up.  “What’s wrong with you, your eyes are all red?” he snapped.  Shouko stood up and walked over to him, with a small smirk on her face

“You’re the cat.” She said simply

“What the hell are you-” Kyo was cut off when Shouko quickly tackled him in a hug.  She looked down at the fluffy orange cat in her arms and smiled, “DAMNIT WOMAN WHAT THE HELL’D YOU DO THAT FOR?!” he yelled

“Aw your fur sticks up when you yell.” She scratched behind his ear, earning a glare.  Kyo jumped out of her arms

“Ah! Oh no, Kyo turned into a cat!” Tohru said when she and Yuki came back into the room

“Oh he’s fine.  He was just being a pain in the ass so shut him up.” Shouko shrugged

“Kyo, stop making such loud noise, I’m trying to- oh who is this?” Shouko turned to the tall black haired man who had just walked in, “My name is Shigure Sohma, it’s nice to meet such a beautiful young lady.”

“Thank you.” She smiled

“I must say,” Shigure stepped closer to her, holding her chin up, “You truly are very pretty.” Kyo hissed from the floor

“You idiot!” he yelled before sinking his teeth into Shigure’s leg, “Ya can’t say things like that to girls, pervert.  Especially with your age difference!” Shouko laughed and crossed her arms

“Someone’s jealous!~” she sang.  Kyo turned back to her and growled

“Am not, shut up woman!” he yelled

“Ignore Kyo, he has a temper.” Shigure said, getting Shouko’s attention back, "Anyway, what's you name again?"

“Oh Shouko Kinoshta.” She said smiling.  With a familiar puff of smoke, Kyo ran out of the room to get changed again.  Shouko giggled slightly, for once not hating being a girl.  Shigure looked back at her with a puzzled look on his face

“You look familiar, if you don’t mind my asking, what was your mothers maiden name?”

“Um… Nekozoua I think.” Shigure quickly grabbed Yuki and Kyo, who had just walked back in the room, and dragged them into the kitchen.  “Hm? What was that?”

“Who knows?” Tohru giggled

~~~Meanwhile in the kitchen~~~

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING YOU DAMNED DOG?!” Kyo shouted.  Shigure quickly put a hand on his mouth

“Shut up for once and listen!” he snapped.

“Um… if you don’t mind, could you tell us what’s going on?” Yuki asked quietly.  Shigure sighed slightly

“Long ago, a member of the Nekozoua family married into the Sohma family.  Though she was only in the Nekozoua family by marriage to begin with, his father married someone in her family.” Shigure explained.  The two boys looked out at Tohru and Shouko.  “So, of course, the Nekozoua’s have known about the curse of the Zodiac since… basically the beginning.  And through all that time, they never told anyone.  So of course, anyone in the Nekozoua family is to be respected by us.”

“So she’s our cousin?” Kyo asked.  Shigure thought for a moment and shook his head

“No, it’s not like that.  More of… a family friend.  But be nice to her because she knows our secret.” At that last part he looked directly at Kyo

“I’m not gunna be all nice just cuz some chick in her family married someone in ours!” he yelled.  Yuki sighed.

“It’s more complicated then that you ignorant cat.” He said, “You shouldn’t be nice to her because our family’s have history.  You should be nice to her because her parents are dead.”

“So are Tohru’s and I don’t put her on a platform!”

“Yes but Shouko’s parents died only two weeks ago today.”
